Personal Profile

Robin McNelis is a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist who has been working in Respiratory since 1999.  Having worked with Brain Injured patients during his 16 years at The Wellington Hospital, he is now using these valuable skills with Neurological patients who are at risk of Chest Infections which can delay their rehab but also impact on their quality of life.

Typically Robin will work with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to identify patients who would benefit from his skills.  He will then carry out a comprehensive Respiratory Physiotherapy Assessment, make recommendations and provide training to staff, carers and families.  He can then provide regular reviews, training updates and be contactable if the person has a Respiratory Infection that is not covered by the scope of the treating staff's skills.

Robin also works in Long Covid Recovery, having suffered from the condition himself since 2020.  There are currently no cures for Long Covid but Robin has seen more than 1000 people suffering from the condition to help make lifestyle adjustments including Pacing, Breathing Pattern Retraining, POTS assessment and management, whilst also being an empathetic ear to a group of patients who often feel dismissed by mainstream medicine.
