Gill Ward

Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Professional Profile

Gill has 20 years’ experience working with adult clients.  Her specialism is rehabilitation of speech, language and communication difficulties following traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, Parkinson’s disease (PD), and multiple sclerosis (MS). Gill also works with clients with early onset dementia and Primary Progressive Aphasia.  She is experienced in impairment and functional therapy, conversation partner work and project-based intervention.  Gill is an LSVT LOUD certified clinician.

Gill works within a life participation approach to neuro rehabilitation, which embraces all areas of a person’s life. Treating the speech, language and communication difficulties within this approach allows appreciation of the environmental facilitators and barriers, personal identity and emotions, and participation in daily life. Gill works independently and with multi-disciplinary colleagues. Whatever the challenges faced by the client, Gill endeavours to find creative solutions to support attaining the best possible therapy outcomes.

Therapy is always underpinned by the latest evidence. Keeping up to date with developments in clinical practice is integral to Gill.  She attends training courses, engages in supervision, and continuous professional development.  She is an active member of two neuro speech therapy peer groups.

In addition to her speech therapy experience, Gill has 5 years’ experience working as a case manager for adult clients following a brain injury. She is experienced at managing and delivering bespoke neurorehabilitation and report writing within a litigation framework.

In her spare time, Gill enjoys spending time with family and friends, yoga, running, outdoor swimming, meditation, reading, catching a film at the cinema, and going to the theatre.
