What is Speech and Language Therapy?

Our Speech and Language Therapists team treats clients with speech and language problems following a neurological impairment. Our therapists are working in private and NHS settings with extensive experience. Our outreach packages are competitive and we ensure that there will be continuation of the same therapist seeing a specific client throughout their rehabilitation journey. We complement our service by working closely with Neurophysiotherapists, Neuropsychologists, Occupational Therapists and Medical Consultants to provide the most holistic approach.

Conditions we treat within our speech and language therapy packages include:

• Early undiagnosed speech or swallowing conditions, with suspected neurological causes, like stroke or multiple sclerosis (MS).
• Impairments of cranial nerves that have been affected due to disease or surgery.
• Communication or swallowing problems due to stroke.
• Early cognitive decline that is affecting communication, due to conditions like Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
• Clients dependent on ventilators or tracheostomy tubes who require assessment or help to communicate or swallow.
• General neurological communication or swallowing problems.
• Minimally conscious state and prolonged disorders of consciousness cases, who require physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy to help them swallow or aid communication.
